JORGE'S TREEHOUSE
A Small Way to Pay it Forward
In honor of my little brother Jorge, my family launched a nonprofit organization in the Fall of 2021.
The mission of Jorge’s Treehouse is to provide housing and support to those families in distress that must leave their homes to pursue medical treatment for their children.

Some facts about childhood cancer:
Each day, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States, which means 15,590 children in the U.S. are diagnosed each year. Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in American children, resulting in the death of approximately 1,800 kids each year.
My little brother, at just eight-years-old, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. He was welcomed with open arms to the St.Jude Children's Research Hospital. A nonprofit hospital dedicated to childhood cancer. There my brother was provided with free transportation, free housing, and free treatment.

A year after this interview, Jorgito passed away. He lost the battle.
To this day my brother's passing has been the greatest pain I have ever endured. I promised myself I would dedicate my life to families going through the same experience we did because no family should go through this experience, yet a surprising amount of us do.
Join me in making the world a better place, in protecting these kids and helping these families. No parent should be focused on bills while their kid is going through this life-threatening battle.

ST. JUDE CHILDRENS RESEARCH HOSPITAL
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Donations are accepted on their website.
THE TARGET HOUSE
The Target House is an apartment like facilities where families who need to be at St. Jude for long periods have a place to stay. The apartments are patient-friendly and fully furnished, the goal for the facilities was to make the families feel at home or as comfortable as possible during their rough times. Funds for the facilities are raised through the purchases of pharmacy and health and beauty products in Target stores nationwide as well as donations.
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE
Ronald McDonald House Charities is an American independent nonprofit organization whose stated mission is to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. They also offer housing during treatment. Donations can be made online and through donation boxes in every McDonalds.
ALEX'S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION (ALSF)
ALSF is a national fundraising movement, ALSF is now a national fundraising movement, raising money (millions) and funding over 800 research projects. ALSF provides free resources for families affected by childhood cancer, including the Travel for Care and SuperSibs! programs. Website includes childhood cancer facts.
NATIONAL CHILDREN'S CANCER SOCIETY (NCCS)
Emergency and travel financial assistance, scholarships, advocacy, information and support during and after treatment, and publications.
